Match Report: SP&T 2nd XI struggle at Kentisbeare
Kentisbeare 2nd XI v Sampford Peverell & Tiverton 2nd XI
Captain Brain Chilcott took his 2nd XI to Kentisbeare having had a good pre-season warm-up and an influx of new players into the club.
Having batted particularly well pre-season, Chilcott won the toss and elected to bat. However, the team struggled to score fluently on a slow wicket and lost a couple of batsman early on to decent bowling. Although SP&T were able to rally slightly, they were all out for 153 and took to the field as the wicket hardened up and the sun beat down.
Despite some good bowling from Jerry Read and Kevin Johnson, and some excellent work from Sam Broomhead behind the stumps, Kentisbeare took the spoils thanks largely to their ability to score more consistently.
Despite the lose there were encouraging signs for the season ahead.
